2nd Thatcham Scouts had an action-packed week-long camp in Dorset, camping at Buddens Farm, near Wareham.

Activities included a coastal walk along the South West Coast Path, a day trip to Brownsea Island, at which 2 former Scouts were invested into Explorer Scouts, a seaside trip by train to Weymouth with a chip supper, lots of kayaking and rafting, abseiling, shooting, knife and axe, and an opportunity to work towards the Camp Cook Badge.

15 Scouts attended, plus Lance, Pete and Jim. Also on site were 4 other Troops from Taceham Hundred, plus the Explorer Scout Unit.

Pictures from 2nd Thatcham Beaver Scouts trip to the seaside on Saturday. We went to West Wittering, Chichester, West Sussex. Including adults and Young Leaders, we had 44 people on the trip.

Great fun was had building sand castles and playing in the pools left when the tide was out. As you can see by the pictures we did manage to build a huge sand castle. This was our first seaside trip, and we will be doing it again next year, as we all had a great day.

These are the members of 2nd Thatcham Cub Pack's football team, modelling their new football strip, kindly donated by BT.

Sadly, the recent annual District Cub Football Competition had to be cancelled due to heavy rain and a thunderstorm. It is hoped that a new date for the competition can be set soon, probably for September.

Cub Camp this year was at PACCAR Scout Campsite (formerly known as Chalfont Heights) held over the May Bank Holiday Weekend.

Saturday was a lovely sunny day, where the Cubs enjoyed climbing, rabbit warren (as pictured) and skittles.

Sunday morning was very wet, so we took the Cubs into Windsor and visited the leisure pool, enjoying the slide and wave machine.

Afterwards, the sun was back out and we walked along the River Thames into the centre of town, and visited MacDonald's for lunch. On our return to the campsite we had a campfire led by Richard Clark, the Scout Leader from 1st Cold Ash.

Monday was very wet and it was time to leave. Despite the weather everybody on camp had a great time.
